Composting at
St. Kevin's High

St. Kevin's High School Peer Counsellors, under the direction of Ms. Val Davis, Guidance Counsellor, decided that it was time for our school to start composting.  Compost buckets were placed in the cafeteria, challenging needs classroom, staff room, guidance office and in the hallway upstairs.

To make composting more interesting  a competition was created between grade levels to see which level gathered the most organic material. In order to do this compost buckets were color coded and weighed every time they were emptied. Weight was recorded and posted for all to see.  The winning Grade Level was announced at our Year End Awards Ceremony, with the  prize for them including a free period of fun activites, nutricious snacks and beverages, along with 10 name draws (made from those present) for $10.00 gift certificates at the mall.
